Methodology

The New Talent Awards 2020 are open to those working within the financial advice sector.

The awards are not about young versus old; they are about celebrating the achievements of those at the beginning of their career in the sector and championing the organisations that do the most to develop young talent in the industry.

Entry Criteria

To enter candidates must be either under 30 or have been working in the sector for less than 9 years, including time spent training and studying. Some categories are for celebrating individuals, and others for team achievements and each category has it's own special criteria - please make sure you read the criteria page thoroughly to find out which applies to you.

The organisers reserve the right to move nominees to a different category from the one they were nominated within, if they believe another category is more suitable.

Nominees should have roles relating to UK-based financial advice, adviser support services, platform provision, investment, retirement, protection and mortgage solutions - including but not limited to management, strategy, product development, marketing, communications, sales, compliance, human resources or front, middle or back-office operations.

Please note a person can only be nominated in a maximum of three categories.

How the process works

  1. Nominations open to the industry - we encourage the industry to nominate their colleagues but you are also encouraged to nominate yourself
  2. Once nominations have been received, the nominee will be contacted and forwarded a list of questions that they will be required to complete in order to progress to the next round of judging
  3. A shortlist will be created and announced to the industry via Professional Adviser's website. From this shortlist, our panel of expert judges will decide the winners in each category
  4. All shortlisted individuals will be invited to attend the awards presentation with a guest where the winners will be announced!

What are the judges looking for?

A passion for change in their workplace/sector and/or for their clients, evidence to support they are a worthy winner and have shown that they have gone the extra mile outside of their job expectations. The awards focus on the previous calendar year and, as such, the judges have been asked to attribute significant weight to relevant achievements accomplished since 2019. The winners will be announced on 15th October.

Please note: Only entries via the nomination system will be considered. It is up to nominators to ensure contact details of those being nominated are correct. The organisers of the New Talent Awards reserve the right to: close a category should the quality of entrants be deemed insufficient; remove an entry if, in the opinion of the judges, the criteria have not been followed; or suggest another more appropriate category for a nominee. The panel will take into account nominee responses as well as third-party research, such as websites and social media. The panel reserves the right to use public voting where appropriate. The chairperson's decision is final.
