Goldman Sachs Asset Management Presentation

Getting to the CORE® of Big Data & Artificial Intelligence

Exploiting exponentially growing data and Language-Models (LMs) such as ChatGPT seem to take over the world by storm. Similarly, todays’ data availability, accelerated information processing, and the scale of technology can pave the way for an informational advantage in markets – identifying opportunities and risks faster than the market in aggregate has always been the prerequisite of successful active management. GSAM’s Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) team, founded in 1989, is a pioneer in applying quantitative techniques and insights from alternative data to equity investing. The team’s blend-style mutual funds historically exhibit comparably low excess return correlation to both fundamental and quantitative peers, delivering a diversifying element to investors’ existing equity allocations.

By the end of this session, delegates will be able to:

  • Address the role of AI and alternative data in an active management context
  • Demystify the merits of alternative data and its potential to generate uncorrelated alpha.
